Where do the Jakartans go for a quick and adventurous getaway?
The last place should be a good idea to a beach bitch and for those who needs some injection of vitamin sea. Wait! How about we go further across the sea? There’s a not-so-hidden gem in Sunda Strait called Sangiang Island. Have you ever heard about the island? I guess most of us familiar with its name. There’s a lot of Sangiang Island signage a long the way in Anyer. To me, the name of Sangiang Island itself is quite familiar since one of the tour operators often promoted the tour package.
Went to Anyer around 2 am, arrived at the villa, slept in the car until the sun rise then go to Paku Anyer Port. One hour boat ride in the morning is the best time to sit in the front area of the boat to see the sea and scenery.
First stop was in Tembuyuh, the place of turtle nest. Our first agenda was free the tukik (baby sea turttle) into the sea. Unfortunately, we didn’t have so much time for tukik, so we did it quickly and ride the boat to Lagoon Bajo. The name of the place instantly spoils my memory of Labuan Bajo. We did snorkeling for about two hours to see all those dancing fishes and coral. Too bad the water is not clear enough. However the citizen of Sangiang underwater was actually facinated me. A lot of colorful group fishes dancing around us and looking for some food.
We continue the journey to the island to explore and have lunch cooked by local. We’re cleaning up ourself after snorkeling and have a rest while waiting for our lunch to be served. I took some pictures around the place and walking around in the bright sunny afternoon. After fueling ourself with food, we continue to explore the island by trekking to Goa Kelelawar (bat cave). It’s one hour trekking down the hill and not forget to mention; forest (better pouring yourself with mosquito lotion before trekking). Along the way to Goa Kelelawar, the ambience of the track resembles the track of Rinca Island in Komodo. I’m just scared that suddenly there’s a komodo popped in front of me. LOL!
The sound of big wave echoing from the cave when we arived. Goa Kelelawar served an epic scenery by the combination of the wave, the sound of the bat and the cave itself. Ray of light is a bonus to take an epic picture in front of the cave.We took some times to take a rest for a long walk before continuing our journey to the hill.
We walk down on the island to next spot. I didn’t have any expectation about the hill. When we arrived, the hill was unexpectedly beautiful. Whatever the sun burns our skin, the beauty can’t stop us. We stop by to have fresh coconut water while sitting on the grass and sunbathing. We continue our journey by walking down the hill and spoiled by the beauty of nature along the way. There are three spots on the hill to enjoy their panoramic scene before we reach our final destination; Sangiang beach.
Apparently we only had one day trip on the island and feels like its not enough to explore. This Sangiang Island is worth to visit for more than one time. Before the shine in the other side of the world, we’re walking down the island again to Tembuyuh, where our boat is waiting.
